NY State Assembly Moves to Ban Body Armor Vests

Reading Time: 3 minutes

Albany, NY — The New York State Assembly is making a new move to attack gun enthusiasts in the state. They are targeting those who may have body vests, an item that many gun enthusiasts have.

The legislation was pre-filed for the current assembly session that will start next week. The measure would make owning a body vest a class A misdemeanor for the first offense and a Class E felony for each subsequent offense. A copy of the legislation can be found here.

In New York, a class A misdemeanor carries a punishment of up to one year in jail or three years probation with up to a $1,000 fine. The class E felony carries up to 4 years in prison or probation.

Called body armor by most, the vest helps deflect and absorb physical attacks that may happen. There are different levels of classification for the protection that is provided, with protection ranging from blade protection through bullet protection.

This is not the first time that New York has taken on body vests in the state assembly. The United States already has laws preventing the ownership of such vests by convicted violent felons. Many states restrict the purchase of body armor or have laws about conducting violent crimes while wearing body armor.

New York is one of the least friendly states to gun owners and enthusiasts and looks to clamp down even more. It’s a continued move by the left as they attack any possible way you may protect yourself.

The left argues that there are limited reasons, outside of crime, that someone would need to own body armor. Many gun enthusiasts own it for a variety of reasons, including added protection while hunting. Others may use it as a means of preparation for a potential doomsday scenario. Rarely, is body armor owned with the mindset of conducting violent crime.

Of course, those on the left would not understand those matters. They want to continue to assault the rights of gun owners to protect and defend themselves and their families. They want you to believe that you are better off with no method to defend yourself, while they continue to argue to defund the police.

This is only the beginning as they will continue their assault on all things gun-related. New York is one of the chief violators, as they continue their assault on the NRA and firearm enthusiasts. These types of actions are exactly why our founding fathers gave us the second amendment.

What’s The Big Deal About Section 230

There is a continued call to repeal Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act from 1996. Conservatives seem to have united behind the cause of eliminating the liability protection for big tech companies. It seems many do not have a full understanding of the law.  The law does provide protections to conservatives and liberals alike.
